Award Title:  To continue SORNA implementation efforts through the use of the program director and administrative assistant completing their required duties and responsibilities.

Award Description:

The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 (AWA) authorizes the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) to administer grants to assist states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories and tribal jurisdictions in developing and/or enhancing sex offender registration and notification programs that support substantial implementation of Title I of the AWA, the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). SORNA was enacted to protect the public from convicted sex offenders and offenders against children by establishing a comprehensive national system for the registration of those offenders. Northern Arapaho Tribe will use AWA funds to continue to employ an administrative assistant to track the budget along with other administrative duties; promote public safety through the use of the SORNA program director/compliance officer (public safety officer); work with other jurisdictions through information sharing as it relates to sex offender registration, tracking, notification, compliance and accountability; keep the Eastern Shoshone Tribe updated and knowledgeable of the program’s progress, as the tribe shares the Wind River Reservation land with the Eastern Shoshone Tribe; attend SORNA containment meetings with other jurisdictional personnel; and update and keep current records of all registered sex offenders within the jurisdiction. ca/ncf
